Cross River Governor Awards Super Eagles’ Terem Moffi N10m for AFCON Achievement

Terem Moffi, the Super Eagles forward, received a generous gift of N10m from Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State in recognition of the team’s silver medal victory at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast. Moffi, accompanied by his father and younger brother, was presented with the award in Calabar on Thursday evening.

Governor Otu praised Moffi for his outstanding representation of Cross River and his exemplary conduct, which serves as a positive role model for the state’s youth. He assured Moffi of continued support, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to youth and sports development as a means of fostering opportunities and mitigating youth unrest.

Expressing his delight at Moffi’s accomplishments, Governor Otu emphasized the state’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing avenues for growth. He also commended the Super Eagles players for their contributions to sports development in Cross River.

In a show of solidarity with local football clubs, Moffi earlier donated N1m to Pelican Stars FC and provided 25 footballs each to Pelican Stars FC and Calabar Rovers. Moffi, who currently plays for Nice in France, transitioned to the club in 2023 after stints with FC Lorient in France and KV Kortrijk in Belgium.

As a key member of the national team, Moffi has been selected to represent Nigeria in the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic in June, following his debut for the Super Eagles in 2021.
