Stephen Bunting Wins Swiss Darts Trophy with Dominant Win Over Luke Woodhouse
Stephen Bunting has hailed his current form as the best of his career after a dominant display saw him lift the 2025 Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel on Sunday night.
‘The Bullet’ produced a series of exceptional performances on Finals Day, averaging over 100 in all four matches and sealing the title with a commanding 8-3 win over Luke Woodhouse in the final.
Having already defeated Raymond van Barneveld and Gian van Veen earlier in the evening, Bunting carried his momentum into the final. Woodhouse, who had overcome Ryan Searle and Cor Dekker to reach his first Euro Tour final, claimed the opening leg after a scrappy start, but it was Bunting who quickly took control.
A pinpoint double 18 break gave the world number four a 2-1 lead, and from there he never looked back. Clinical finishing and relentless scoring—including a 110 checkout for a double break at 5-2—put daylight between the two players.
Woodhouse briefly rallied, but Bunting’s dominance continued. A brilliant 177 setup shot in the tenth leg set the stage for a composed 83 finish, sealing his second European Tour title of the season.
“I’m playing the best darts of my life” – Bunting
“I’m so happy with this win,” Bunting said post-match. “There’s a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes. I feel like I’m consistently delivering now—I’m playing the best darts of my life.”
He was also full of praise for Woodhouse: “Luke’s had a fantastic week. There’s no better time to find your form than on a stage like this. This run will give him loads of confidence for what’s ahead.”
Currently ranked fourth in the world, Bunting reflected on his rise and the consistency that has propelled him to the top tier of the sport.
“To be in the world’s top four is unbelievable. It shows how consistent I’ve been over the past few years. But nothing’s guaranteed in this game. There are so many quality players out there—I’ve got to stay sharp, keep practicing, and keep improving.”
Looking ahead, Bunting has his sights firmly set on more major titles in what could be a career-defining year.
Basel Belongs to Bunting
With this victory, Bunting adds another prestigious trophy to his collection and strengthens his position as one of the most in-form players on the circuit. His Finals Day averages and composed finishing underline exactly why he’s considered a serious contender at every major tournament in 2025.
If this blistering form continues, Stephen Bunting may well turn a great year into a legendary one.
