EPL: Man Utd set to sign ex-Chelsea defender for Ten Hag

Manchester United are set to sign former Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso to bolster Erik ten Hag’s squad this summer transfer window.

Alonso is currently available as a free agent after leaving Barcelona this summer following the expiration of his contract.

According to The Mirror, Man United want to strengthen their left-back options and have included the 33-year-old on a three-man shortlist to address their defensive issues.

Alonso is one target alongside Feyenoord’s David Hancko and Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell.

Hancko has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, but the deal is said to have stalled, while AC Milan are also reportedly interested in him.

Mitchell may be available at a reduced price given he has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Crystal Palace.
