Intermediaire I and Para Dressage Battles Heat Up at U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions
The second day of the 2025 U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions featured the Intermediaire I riders returning to the Grand Prix Arena for their FEI Intermediate I tests, while the Adequan®/USEF Para Dressage National Championship continued with competitors in the Para Intermediaire and Para Grand Prix divisions completing their Test B performances.
USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship
Jojoba de Massa, a 2014 Portuguese Sport Horse stallion owned by Four Winds Farm and ridden by Sabine Schut-Kery (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), secured his second blue ribbon of the event. Following his Prix St. Georges win on Monday, the pair posted a 71.412% in Tuesday’s I-1 test to top the class once again.
Close behind in second place was C. Cadeau, a 2016 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Elvis Syndicate LLC and ridden by Lauren Spreiser (Marshall, Va.), scoring 70.353%. Vincent, a 2017 Oldenburg gelding shown by Elizabeth Bortuzzo (Frenchtown, N.J.) and co-owned by Bortuzzo and Mark Paul, narrowly secured third with 70.294%, less than a tenth of a point behind Cadeau.
The Intermediaire I competitors will take a rest day on Wednesday before concluding their competition with the FEI Intermediate Freestyle tests on Thursday, August 21, starting at 3:00 p.m. CT.
Adequan®/USEF Intermediaire I Para Dressage National Championship
In the FEI Para Intermediate Test B, Divino, a 2000 Hanoverian gelding owned by Roberta Clark and ridden by Sienna Busking (Owasso, Okla.), topped the leaderboard with a score of 63.963%. Following closely was Baltico BRH, a 2018 PRE gelding owned and ridden by Elizabeth Welch (Summerville, S.C.), who earned 63.029% for second place. Carrera GH, a 2005 Hanoverian mare owned by Tami Glover and ridden by Victoria Yu (Coatesville, Pa.), finished third with 61.451%.
Adequan®/USEF Grand Prix Para Dressage National Championship
Supreme, a 2016 Westphalian gelding owned and shown by Kate Shoemaker (Wellington, Fla.), delivered a second winning ride of the championship with a 74.324% score in the FEI Para Grand Prix Test B on Tuesday.
Rumour Has It, a 2012 Hanoverian gelding owned by Simone Van Der Schalk and ridden by Roxanne Trunnell (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.), earned second place with 69.583%, while My Moment, a 2010 Hanoverian mare ridden and owned by Eleanor Brimmer (Wellington, Fla.), took third with 66.666%.
Both Para Dressage divisions will conclude with their FEI Para Freestyle tests on Wednesday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. CT, followed by the presentation of national champion awards.
