U.S. Jumping Teams Mark Strong Week at FEI Youth Jumping Nations Cup Final with Podium Results in Young Rider and Junior Categories
The U.S. Youth Jumping Teams wrapped up a successful week at the FEI Youth Jumping Nations Cup Final at Azelhof Horse Events in Lier, Belgium, with strong performances across the board. The U.S. Young Rider Team took first place, finishing on a perfect zero faults, while the Junior Team claimed third, ending with just four faults after three days of competition.
Both teams were led by Chef d’Equipe Anne Kursinski and Team Leader Erin Keating.
“We had another very successful week here in Belgium,” said Kursinski. “Our athletes showed incredible focus, determination, and teamwork. These experiences are crucial for their growth in the sport, and I’m so optimistic about their futures.”
Young Riders Deliver Dominant Performance
The Young Rider team led from the front, starting with a flawless performance in Thursday’s qualifier, followed by a solid showing on Friday. Heading into Sunday’s final, the team was well-prepared—and delivered.
-
Skylar Wireman (Bonsall, Calif.) and Barclino B kicked things off with a confident clear round in 73.34 seconds.
-
Olivia Sweetnam (Wellington, Fla.) and Epic followed suit, keeping the team on zero faults.
-
Alexa Elle Lignelli (New York, N.Y.) and XO Zadora sealed the win with a third clear round of the day—her third clear round of the week.
With the win already secured, anchor Carlee McCutcheon (Aubrey, Texas) and Aralyn Blue didn’t need to jump.
“This week was amazing,” said Lignelli. “The leadership from Anne and Erin helped us stay focused. I’ve done this Final before, but coming back with more experience and winning with XO Zadora made it extra special.”
Juniors Take Bronze in Tight Finish
The Junior Team also impressed, posting double-clear rounds in both qualifiers. In Sunday’s final, they held their own against tough competition from Sweden and Ireland.
-
Campbell Brown (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Colina Z led off with four faults.
-
Sophia Ayers (Reddick, Fla.) and Conthinder kept the team in the mix with a clean round.
-
JJ Torano (Wellington, Fla.) and Lyon 50 delivered another clear to raise the stakes.
-
Philippa Ammann (Wellington, Fla.) and Zarina de Vidau wrapped up with four faults, enough to keep the U.S. on the podium.
The team’s final score of four faults secured third place, continuing a strong tradition of U.S. success at this event.
