US Equestrian Announces Major Updates to EquiTrace’s EventPass Platform for Streamlined Horse Health Documentation
US Equestrian is excited to announce significant enhancements to EventPass by EquiTrace, a digital platform designed to simplify and modernize horse health documentation at USEF-licensed competitions that subscribe to the system. The updated platform offers competitors a faster, paperless check-in process and improved health verification protocols—all with the goal of promoting efficiency and equine safety at competitions nationwide.
Launched in early 2025, EventPass is a cornerstone innovation for equine management, allowing competitors to upload, verify, and store critical documents such as Coggins tests, vaccination records, and health certificates directly from their smartphones. These updates ensure that all required health documents meet USEF and competition standards before competitors arrive at the venue.
A Smarter Way to Manage Horse Health Records
Through secure digital verification, EventPass identifies discrepancies in documentation and enhances the ability to track potential health concerns. In the event of an equine health outbreak, competitors and care teams can be alerted immediately—helping to safeguard horse welfare and the integrity of competition environments.
“EventPass by EquiTrace has made the show check-in process infinitely easier,” said Lindsey Patt, Lead Show Secretary for the Split Rock Jumping Tour. “It allows show secretaries to focus on other priorities, knowing that all required health records are properly verified and stored for future use.”
Tom Hern, Senior Director of Equestrian Operations at World Equestrian Center, echoed this sentiment:
“The platform is easy for exhibitors to use and has transformed how we manage equine health records. It’s improved both accuracy and efficiency for our team, and we’re excited to continue working with EquiTrace at upcoming events.”
How EventPass Works
-
Free Sign-Up: US Equestrian members can create a free EventPass Lite account via the mobile app, available on both Apple and Android devices.
-
Horse Profiles: Users can sync their USEF account or search a horse’s USEF ID to add it to the app. Each horse’s barn name must be manually confirmed in the profile.
-
Upload Documents: Required records—including one current Coggins test, vaccination certificates, and health certificates—can be uploaded directly to each horse’s profile.
-
Verification Process: Uploaded documents are reviewed to ensure they meet all competition and USEF requirements. Document status is clearly marked as approved, pending, or rejected within the app.
-
Generate EventPass: Competitors select their show, input arrival and departure dates, and note whether the horse is traveling across state lines. If needed, health declarations can be completed directly in the app.
-
Multi-Horse Support: Multiple horses can be included on a single EventPass—ideal for barns and teams traveling with several entries.
-
Expiration Alerts: Automatic reminders are sent two weeks before any document is due to expire, reducing the risk of last-minute issues.
With all documentation in one secure location, competitors, trainers, and care teams can efficiently manage their horses’ health records and focus more on performance in the ring.
Strengthening Equine Health Across the Sport
“EquiTrace EventPass represents an important step forward in supporting our members and protecting horse health,” said Bill Moroney, CEO of US Equestrian. “It reduces paperwork, streamlines competition processes, and reinforces our commitment to equine welfare.”
Killian Gaffney, CEO of EquiTrace, added:
“Our mission is to make horse shows safer and simpler for everyone involved. EventPass takes the stress out of show check-ins by verifying documents in advance and securely storing them for repeated use. With US Equestrian’s support, we’re proud to see EventPass becoming the national standard.”
