Euro 2024: Nikoloz Basilashvili Mocks Ronaldo – “Tell Me Why You’re Crying”
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo was mocked by Georgian tennis star Nikoloz Basilashvili Nikoloz after Georgia’s 2-0 victory over Portugal at Euro 2024. This win marked Georgia’s first major tournament victory and secured their place in the knockout stage for the first time.
Georgia had lost 3-1 to Turkey in their opening game and drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic in their second match. Against Portugal, the Crusaders excelled, with Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, failing to score.
The 39-year-old Al Nassr striker was cautioned in the first half for protesting a no-call in the penalty box. Throughout the game, Ronaldo struggled to impact his team’s performance and was substituted in the second half for Goncalo Ramos, reacting angrily and kicking a water bottle.
Former ATP singles World No. 16 Basilashvili mocked Ronaldo on social media, posting on his Instagram story and questioning why the former Manchester United star “cries after every chance he misses.”
