Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that young winger Jamie Gittens has linked up with the squad ahead of the official announcement of his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old’s move to Stamford Bridge is understood to be complete, with Chelsea reaching an agreement with the Bundesliga side. Gittens was spotted on the pitch following Chelsea’s 2-1 quarter-final victory over Palmeiras.

Speaking after the match, Maresca said:
“Jamie was here tonight, he was on the pitch. He will be with us probably one more day, two days more. Then he will go for a holiday and come back when we’re going to start the new season.”

Chelsea had initially aimed to finalize the deal in time for Gittens to participate fully in the Club World Cup. However, delays meant his official registration couldn’t be completed in time for the quarter-finals.

The announcement of his signing is now expected ahead of Chelsea’s semi-final clash with Fluminense next week.
