This ceremony marks the commencement of Finidi’s tenure as the leader of the three-time African champions. Prior to this role, Finidi had served as an assistant to the former coach, Jose Peseiro, for a span of 20 months. He also had a stint as the caretaker coach for the Super Eagles during friendly matches against Ghana and Mali in March.

As he assumes the helm, Finidi George will oversee his first official match against the South African national team, Bafana Bafana. This appointment signals a new chapter in Nigerian football, with hopes high for a successful era under Finidi’s guidance.
