CHAN 2024: Congo Coach Ngatsono Expresses Regret After Loss to Nigeria
Congo head coach, Barthelemy Ngatsono has acknowledged that Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles deserved their 2-0 win over his team in the Group D clash at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The match, held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, saw Nigeria secure qualification to the quarter-finals while Congo were eliminated following the defeat.
Ngatsono admitted that Nigeria was better prepared and physically fitter, which made it difficult for Congo to control the game despite solid preparations.
“Nigeria were better prepared, and physically fit than us, so we couldn’t control the ball as well. Despite our good preparation before the match, we weren’t good as we planned,” Ngatsono told CAFonline.
Goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi in the second half sealed the victory for the Super Eagles, ending Congo’s hopes in the tournament.
