Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has set an unwanted Premier League record following the club’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

A first-half header from Riccardo Calafiori was enough to seal all three points for the visitors in a tightly contested match. While United showed signs of improvement compared to last season, the result added another disappointing milestone to Amorim’s tenure.

According to data from OptaJoe, Amorim has now lost 15 of his first 28 Premier League matches in charge (with 7 wins and 6 draws). This marks the fastest any manager has reached that number of defeats in the competition—excluding those managing newly promoted clubs—since Paul Hart did so with Portsmouth in 2009 (27 games).

The defeat also highlighted ongoing defensive vulnerabilities. Since the start of the 2023/2024 season, Manchester United have conceded the most goals from corners (23) in the league. In contrast, Arsenal have been the most prolific from set-pieces, scoring 31 times from corners.

Amorim will now be under increased pressure to turn United’s form around as the club continues to struggle for consistency.
