Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has revised his Premier League top-four predictions following the opening round of matches, citing impressive performances and shifting momentum among the top clubs.

Liverpool kicked off their season with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth, while reigning champions Manchester City cruised to a 4-0 victory against Wolves. Arsenal, meanwhile, secured a narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Neville, who had previously predicted a sixth-place finish for Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, says he has reconsidered after watching their performance against the Gunners.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the pundit said, “When I watched Manchester United against Arsenal, I thought the performance was very good. I think they’ll sign a goalkeeper, and with no European football this season, they’ll surprise people.”

He added: “Last week, I had them finishing between sixth and eighth. But the way they played—especially with that attacking front line—I genuinely liked it. It was a loss, yes, but I value performances, and if they keep playing like that, they’ll win a lot of matches.”

Neville now expects United to finish in the top four, alongside Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

When asked about title contenders, Neville named Liverpool, City, and Arsenal as joint favourites, noting that all three clubs have an equal chance of winning the Premier League.

However, he believes Arsenal could edge the competition if they strengthen their attack.

“I think Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are all in with an equal chance. I’m not certain Arsenal will win it, but they have the right ingredients,” he said. “If they sort out that forward area, and if Viktor Gyökeres comes in, I think he could be the difference-maker.”
