Brown Ideye, former Nigerian international and Super Eagles forward, has officially announced his retirement from professional football.

In a heartfelt message shared on X, the 36-year-old expressed his gratitude and reflected on his career.

“After much thought and consideration, and with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to retire from professional football,” Ideye wrote.

He went on to thank God for his journey, stating, “I want to thank God for the talent and the long career I’ve been privileged to have.” He also acknowledged the support of his loved ones: “To my family and friends, thank you for your unwavering love, support, and understanding.”

Throughout his career, Ideye played for clubs across several countries, including stints in England, Greece, China, Ukraine, and Spain.

On the international stage, he earned 28 caps for Nigeria and scored six goals. Notably, he was a member of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa.

Looking ahead, Ideye affirmed his continued connection to the sport, stating, “Football will always be a part of my life as I step into this new chapter.”
