Gary Neville Names Superior Goalkeeper Among Raya, Donnarumma, and Alisson

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has expressed high praise for Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, claiming the Italian goalkeeper stands above his Premier League counterparts.

Speaking after Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Neville shared his thoughts on the Sky Sports podcast, singling out Donnarumma’s commanding presence and physicality as standout attributes.

“Donnarumma is an absolute animal,” Neville said. “He’s huge, and when he comes out for the ball, attackers think twice — they know they’re going to take a serious hit.”

Neville, known for favoring physically imposing goalkeepers, compared Donnarumma to Arsenal’s David Raya and Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.

“I like Alisson, I like Raya, but I wouldn’t choose Raya over Donnarumma or Alisson,” he added. “I’ve always preferred big goalkeepers who dominate the box, and Donnarumma does exactly that. He’s already made a big impact at City.”
