Neville to Rashford: ‘Focus on Barça, We’ll Ignore You For Now’
Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has advised Marcus Rashford to concentrate on improving his football at Barcelona rather than responding to his recent criticism of the Red Devils.
Rashford, who joined Barcelona on a season-long loan this year, recently spoke on The Rest is Football podcast, where he criticized Manchester United’s tendency to sack managers too quickly. The England international called on the club’s leadership to follow the example of Liverpool and Manchester City, who give their managers more time to rebuild and succeed.
When asked about Rashford’s comments during a Sky Sports segment, Neville pointed out that Rashford had ample time to make an impact at Old Trafford and suggested he should now focus on his new chapter in Spain.
“Let’s ignore that, because I don’t want to go into Marcus Rashford’s comments tonight,” Neville said. “He was at the club for 10 years and had his opportunity to make an impact. Ruben Amorim, this year, I think will do a good job. Marcus should concentrate on Barcelona.”
Since his senior debut in 2016, Rashford has played under five different managers at Manchester United: Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Erik ten Hag, and now Ruben Amorim.
