Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed surprise at Arsenal’s inability to defeat Manchester City during their Premier League encounter on Sunday.

The match ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, with Erling Haaland giving City the lead in the 9th minute. Pep Guardiola’s side adopted a compact 5-4-1 formation for most of the game, effectively stifling Arsenal’s attacking efforts.

However, the Gunners salvaged a point deep into stoppage time, as Gabriel Martinelli struck a late equalizer in the 93rd minute.

Despite the late drama, Oliseh took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts, stating that Arsenal should have capitalized on what he viewed as a below-par performance from the reigning champions.

“I am shocked Arsenal did not beat Man City today! This is, I believe, one of the weakest performances put up by Man City,” Oliseh wrote.

The result leaves both teams sharing the spoils in what was billed as an early-season test of title credentials.
