Roy Keane Predicts Premier League Title Winner, Lists Top Five Clubs for the Season
Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane has predicted that Arsenal will finally clinch the Premier League title this season, breaking their two-decade-long drought.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane backed Mikel Arteta’s side to come out on top after years of falling just short. According to him, last season’s champions Liverpool will finish second, while defending champions Manchester City will drop to third.
If Keane’s prediction proves accurate, it would mark Arsenal’s first league title since their unbeaten “Invincibles” campaign in 2003/04.
Despite heavy investments and a new managerial era at Stamford Bridge, Keane doesn’t see Chelsea breaking into the top four, placing them in fifth. He instead tipped Newcastle United to secure the final Champions League spot in fourth.
Keane’s Predicted Top 5 Finish:
-
Arsenal
-
Liverpool
-
Manchester City
-
Newcastle United
-
Chelsea
Arsenal have finished second in the past three seasons—twice behind Manchester City and once behind Liverpool. But Keane believes this could finally be their breakthrough year.
Over the weekend, the Gunners secured a narrow win over Manchester United, while Liverpool began their title defence with a victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday, August 15.
Manchester City made a strong statement with a 4-0 win, whereas Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace.
