“Frustration in Minna! Tornadoes Coach Blasts Missed Chances After Bendel Insurance Stalemate”
Niger Tornadoes technical adviser, Majin Mohammed, has voiced his disappointment following his side’s 2-2 draw with Bendel Insurance in the NPFL clash at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.
The Ikon Allah Boys found themselves on the back foot early as Henry Onyia opened the scoring for Bendel Insurance in the second minute. Chinedu Nwosu doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 37th minute, leaving Tornadoes with a mountain to climb before the break.
Tornadoes responded in the second half, with Abdulaziz Dalhatu pulling one back in the 59th minute. Their persistence paid off late on when Rickson Mendos struck in stoppage time to snatch a share of the spoils.
Speaking after the game, Mohammed admitted his team’s slow start proved costly and ultimately shaped the outcome of the match. He noted that the result fell short of expectations, especially after securing a valuable away point in their previous fixture.
“We wanted to build on the point we got away from home, but we only have ourselves to blame. We started the game slowly and the visitors took advantage, scoring twice in the first half and forcing us to chase the game,” Mohammed said.
Despite the draw, Niger Tornadoes sit seventh on the NPFL table with 34 points from 24 matches.
