Euro 2024 hosts Germany kicked off their campaign for a record fourth continental title with a decisive 5-1 victory over 10-man Scotland on Friday.

Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala found the net within the first 20 minutes in Munich, and Kai Havertz added a third goal from the penalty spot before halftime, following Ryan Porteous’s red card for a two-footed tackle on Ilkay Gundogan.

In the second half, substitutes Niclas Fuellkrug and Emre Can scored for Germany, while Scotland managed a late consolation goal through an Antonio Ruediger own goal.
