I am closer to leaving Man City, says Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola declared that Manchester City are experiencing their prime period following their fourth consecutive Premier League victory and sixth in seven years, achieved on Sunday.
The Catalan manager, who has a contract with the Etihad club until 2025, expressed his intention to remain for at least another year in Manchester. The truth is, after eight years, I’m nearer to leaving than staying. We’ve had discussions with the club and my current feeling is that I want to stay, Guardiola stated.
I will be here next season and we will reassess during the year. Phil Foden netted twice as City triumphed 3-1 over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium, narrowly surpassing Arsenal by two points and preventing them from securing their first league title in two decades.
Reflecting on his relocation, Guardiola remarked that if anyone had predicted he would secure six league titles in seven seasons, he would have dismissed it as madness.
He pointed to the formidable squads of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea. This is our time now. We are part of this era, said the 53-year-old.
To date, Guardiola has amassed 15 major trophies over his eight-year tenure with Manchester City and has the opportunity to claim another in the upcoming FA Cup final next weekend.
