“I Will Be Coach There’: Slot Confirms He Will Replace Klopp as Liverpool Manager”

Feyenoord coach Arne Slot confirmed on Friday that he will replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager next season.

“There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but I don’t think it will come as news to you that I will be coach there next season,” Slot told reporters.

The BBC reported last month that Slot’s deal to replace Klopp is worth up to £9.4 million (10.9 million euros).

Slot joined Feyenoord in 2021 after an impressive managerial debut at AZ Alkmaar. He led Feyenoord to the inaugural Europa Conference League final in his first season, narrowly losing 1-0 to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Last season, he secured just the second league title for Feyenoord in 24 years and signed a new three-year contract.

Klopp will step down at the end of this season after a nine-year tenure that saw Liverpool win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.

Initially, Bayer Leverkusen boss and former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso was the favorite to succeed Klopp. However, Alonso has committed to staying at Leverkusen after leading them to their first-ever Bundesliga title.
