Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has responded to reports that Spain international Nico Williams turned down a summer transfer to Barcelona.

The Athletic Bilbao winger had reportedly agreed to join the Catalan giants but backed out at the last minute, citing concerns over Barcelona’s ability to register him under new manager Hansi Flick due to financial uncertainties.

When asked about Williams’ decision ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund, Bellingham made it clear he was unfazed.

“I don’t care,” Bellingham said, via Fabrizio Romano. “It’s not about Real Madrid, so I don’t care.”

Barcelona are reportedly no longer interested in pursuing Williams in the future, with sources indicating the door to Camp Nou is now permanently closed for the 21-year-old.

Following the failed transfer, Williams opted to commit his future to Athletic Bilbao by signing a long-term contract with the club.
