Kanu Nwankwo Mourns the Passing of Peter Rufai and Diogo Jota
Former Nigeria international and Arsenal legend Kanu Nwankwo has expressed sorrow over the deaths of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Rufai passed away on Thursday after a prolonged illness, while Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car accident in Spain.
Reacting on his X account, Kanu described it as “a dark day in football,” praying for their souls to rest in peace.
“A dark day in football today. We lost an African Legend, Peter Rufai. May his soul rest well, Amen,” he wrote.
He added, “Hard to post this may your spirit continue to inspire all of us and future generations RIP condolences to your family,” and later posted, “Sad sad sad RIP Diogo Jota.”
