Spain winger Lamine Yamal became the youngest scorer in European Championship history with a stunning goal in their Euro 2024 semi-final against France.

At just 16 years and 362 days old, Yamal broke the record. Earlier in the tournament, he became the first 16-year-old to start a Euros game.

His latest achievement came during Tuesday night’s match against France. After Spain fell behind to an early Randal Kolo Muani goal, Yamal equalized with a spectacular strike from 25 yards, curling the ball into the top corner past goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Previously, the youngest scorer was Switzerland’s Johan Vonlanthen, who scored against France at Euro 2004. Vonlanthen was nearly 18 months older than Yamal at the time. He had taken the record from Wayne Rooney, who scored for England against Switzerland just four days earlier.
