Paris 2024 Olympics: Waldrum Explains Super Falcons’ Disappointing Performance
Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum suggested that better preparation could have improved his team’s performance at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The former African champions failed to progress beyond the group stage in the women’s football event, losing all three of their games. The Super Falcons had a two-week training camp in Sevilla, Spain, before the competition and played only one friendly match, a 1-0 loss to Canada.
Waldrum mentioned that the outcome might have been different if the team had more time to prepare.
“We prepared for [all three opponents] with limited time,” Waldrum told ESPN. “We missed the last window before the Olympics, which cost us 10 days of valuable training.”
