France captain Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to become the majority owner of the second-division club Caen, according to French media on Monday.

Mbappe, 25, who recently transferred to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, is expected to spend 20 million euros ($21.6 million) to acquire an 80 percent stake in the Normandy club from American investors, Oaktree, as reported by the newspaper Le Parisien.

The 2018 World Cup winner nearly joined Caen as a teenager before signing with Monaco.

Caen, who finished sixth in Ligue 2 last season, has had notable former players, including Mbappe’s French national teammate N’Golo Kante and ex-France defender William Gallas. The two-time Ligue 2 champions, founded in 1913, will kick off their new season by hosting Paris FC on August 17.
