Ronaldo was sent off as Al-Nassr suffered a 2-1 defeat against Al-Hilal.
In a Saudi Super Cup showdown on Monday night, Cristiano Ronaldo, playing for Al-Nassr, was red-carded as his team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo’s expulsion came after he elbowed Ali Al-Bulaihi during the match.
Al-Nassr appeared to have scored a goal when Otavio netted the ball just before halftime. However, the goal was disallowed as Ronaldo, positioned in an offside position, attempted to touch the ball.
Frustrated by the decision, Ronaldo engaged in a heated argument with the referee, resulting in him being cautioned with a yellow card for dissent.
Moments later, Ronaldo retaliated against an Al-Hilal player, leading to him being shown a straight red card while his team trailed 2-1.
Expressing his displeasure, Ronaldo gestured angrily at the referee and sarcastically applauded as he left the field.
