Serie A: Okoye Shares Key to Impressive Form at Udinese
Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has revealed the secret behind his impressive performances for Udinese last season. NIGERIA NEWS 247 recalled that Okoye joined the Serie A club from Watford last summer.
Initially serving as the backup to veteran goalie Marco Silvestri, Okoye eventually established himself as Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old played a crucial role in helping the Zebras avoid relegation, securing a victory at Frosinone on the final day of last season under caretaker coach Fabio Cannavaro.
Okoye credited his self-confidence and the expertise of the club’s goalkeeping coach for his development.
“As soon as I step on the pitch, I am always confident. But, of course, there are good and bad days. The art is to have as many good days as possible and fewer mistakes. Therefore, I am glad to have Sergio Macron as my goalkeeping coach,” Okoye told Tribal Football.
“My skill set after one year working under him is already much wider. He goes into every little detail of my goalkeeping and ensures there’s improvement every day.”
