Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has affirmed the team’s readiness to fight hard at the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Nigeria News 247 reports.

The tournament kicks off on Saturday with hosts Morocco facing Ghana’s Copper Queens, while Nigeria will play their opening match against Tunisia at the Labri Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday. This will be only the second WAFCON meeting between Nigeria and Tunisia—the first ended in a goalless draw during the 2008 edition in Equatorial Guinea.

After finishing fourth in the last tournament—their worst performance to date—Coach Justine Madugu’s squad is determined to clinch their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Ajibade spoke during a CAF webinar last week:

“We’re all excited to be here. We know it won’t be easy but we’re committed to showing up as our best selves.”
