‘This is Just the Beginning’ – Ronaldo Nears Messi’s Free-Kick Record
Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo declared that his performance in Al Nassr’s 4-1 victory over Al-Feiha on Tuesday is “just the beginning.”
Ronaldo urged his teammates to maintain their strong start to the season after contributing a goal and an assist during the match.
The 39-year-old assisted Talisca’s opener within five minutes at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium and then found the net himself, scoring his first free-kick of the season in the tenth minute of stoppage time.
With that free-kick, Ronaldo is now one goal away from matching Lionel Messi’s record, as it marked his 64th free-kick for both club and country, bringing his career goal tally to 899.
Marcelo Brozovic added Al Nassr’s third goal in the 85th minute before Talisca completed the scoring, netting his second goal of the match in stoppage time after Al-Feiha had briefly pulled one back.
Despite the win, Al Nassr trails surprise league leaders Al-Qadisiyah by two points.
Following the match, Ronaldo expressed his excitement on X, posting, “This is only the beginning! Let’s go @AlNassrFC!”
