Riccardo Calafiori is absent from Bologna’s squad for their pre-season training camp as Arsenal nears a deal to sign the defender. The transfer is expected to be valued at around €50 million (£42.1 million).

Sky Sports News reports that in the past 10 days, another Premier League team, Juventus, and Real Madrid all attempted to sign the Italy international. However, Calafiori has expressed a strong desire to join Arsenal and has committed to the move.

His agent, Alessandro Lucci of The World Soccer Agency, has been working with both clubs over the past month to finalize the transfer.
