Dresdner SC winner of WT Energiesysteme Supercup 2025

The 2025/26 volleyball season kicked off spectacularly as Dresdner SC claimed the WT Energiesysteme Supercup 2025, defeating SSC Palmberg Schwerin 3:1 (25:18, 32:34, 25:22, 25:23) in front of a packed Margon Arena, with over 3,000 enthusiastic fans in attendance. This victory marks Dresden’s first major title since 2021.

Dresden started strong, dominating the opening set through aggressive serving and rapid attacks, spearheaded by Emma Grome and new Japanese signing Miku Akimoto. Schwerin fought back fiercely, edging out a dramatic second set after a tight, point-for-point battle. However, Dresden regained momentum with powerful performances from Marta Levinska and Akimoto, ultimately securing the final two sets and the championship.

Team captain Patricia Nestler shared her excitement: “Winning at home and starting the season with a title — it’s just an incredible feeling. We stayed calm, fought hard, and deserved this win.”

Head coach Alexander Waibl praised the team’s energy and the vibrant atmosphere: “That’s the perfect start to a season. We played with great intensity, and the fans created an amazing atmosphere.”

Despite the loss, Schwerin’s coach Felix Koslowski acknowledged Dresden’s superior play: “It was a high-level game. Dresden were more consistent today, and players like Levinska and Akimoto made the difference.”
