Italy vs Argentina at 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship

Defending champions Italy powered past Argentina in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, showcasing their depth and experience in a clinical performance.

Argentina came out strong in the opening set, with Luciano Vicentin leading the charge. But Italy’s solid blocking and the composed playmaking of captain Simone Giannelli turned the tide, allowing them to edge the set 25-23.

Italy took full control in the second set. Alessandro Michieletto dominated on the left wing, while Mattia Bottolo and Yuri Romanò added attacking firepower. Giannelli capped the set with a decisive point, pushing Italy two sets ahead.

The third set saw Argentina fight back fiercely, keeping pace until 20-all. But Romanò delivered two crucial aces to break the deadlock, and Italy sealed the match 25-22 to advance to the quarterfinals, keeping their title hopes alive.

They will now face Belgium in the next round.
