Marcelo Mendez has officially ended his tenure as head coach of Argentina’s men’s volleyball team following their 0–3 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.

“This stage of my life is over,” Mendez said after the loss. “We worked hard over the years, watched young players grow, and always competed with dignity. I leave proud of everything we achieved together.”

During his six-year leadership, Mendez steered Argentina to several landmark achievements, most notably a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the 2023 South American Championship title.
