Team Poland wins Bronze at the 2025 FIVB World Championship in the Philippines

The Polish men’s volleyball team secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Czechia in the third-place match of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines, earning the bronze medal and making history in the process.

For head coach Nikola Grbić and his squad, it was a demanding challenge, but Poland managed to overcome both internal struggles and resilient opponents to finish on the podium.

The final scoreline—25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21—gave Poland its first-ever bronze medal at the World Championship, adding to an already impressive haul that includes three golds (1974, 2014, 2018) and two silvers (2006, 2022).

Wilfredo Leon led the charge for the Poles with a dominant 26-point performance, while Kewin Sasak contributed 11. For Czechia, Lukas Vasina stood out with 19 points, and Patrik Indra added 11.

Despite putting up a strong fight, Czechia were undone by 35 unforced errors, compared to Poland’s 28. The Poles also held a slight edge across key statistics—9–7 in blocks, 5–3 in aces, and greater consistency in attack.

While Czechia missed out on a medal, they leave the tournament as one of its biggest surprises, having exceeded expectations and challenged some of the world’s top teams throughout the competition.
