SC Potsdam Withdraws from German Women’s Volleyball Bundesliga for 2025/26
German women’s volleyball has suffered a significant setback as SC Potsdam Sport & Marketing GmbH has officially withdrawn its application for a 1st Bundesliga license for the 2025/26 season. Despite multiple deadline extensions, the club was unable to meet the financial stability requirements mandated by the league.
Since the initial licensing decision on June 18, concerns about the club’s financial viability were clear. A subsequent attempt at re-licensing also failed. Additionally, the team faced sanctions related to the 2024/25 season, further complicating their situation.
As a result, SC Potsdam will no longer participate in Germany’s top-tier women’s volleyball league. However, their license for the 2nd Bundesliga remains intact, keeping the door open for future competition at that level.
The club’s departure marks the end of a notable Bundesliga chapter for SC Potsdam, a team long regarded as a strong and respected force in German women’s volleyball. Their exit leaves a significant void in the league landscape.
