Star striker Asisat Oshoala has expressed her determination to help Nigeria’s Super Falcons reclaim the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco this year.

Making her fifth appearance at the tournament, the 30-year-old Bay FC forward is no stranger to success, having lifted the trophy three times with the national team. However, Oshoala’s impact was limited during the last edition—also held in Morocco—where she managed only one appearance due to injury as Nigeria lost the crown to South Africa.

Returning to the squad after more than a year away, Oshoala is eager to make a significant contribution this time around.

“For me personally, I want to score goals; it’s what I love to do,” Oshoala told NFF TV. “It’s been a while since I’ve played with the national team because of personal reasons, but wherever I am—on the pitch—I want to help my teammates secure three points in every game.”

The Super Falcons will begin their WAFCON 2024 campaign against Tunisia in Casablanca on Sunday. The tournament officially kicks off on Saturday with hosts Morocco facing Zambia in Rabat.

The WAFCON 2024 finals will run from July 5 to July 26.
