Xabi Alonso Identifies Real Madrid’s Weaknesses Ahead of Club World Cup Clash with Juventus
Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has pointed out two key areas his team must improve ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 clash with Juventus on Tuesday.
The Spanish manager made the comments after overseeing a 3-0 victory over RB Salzburg in the early hours of Friday, a result that secured Los Blancos’ place in the knockout stage. Goals from Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Gonzalo Garcia sealed the win against the Austrian side.
Despite the convincing scoreline, Alonso expressed concerns about aspects of his team’s performance during his post-match interview.
“We wanted to attack faster in the second half, but we lacked more passing,” Alonso said, as quoted by Madrid Zone. “We couldn’t play much in the opponent’s half. We had to calm down.”
Alonso also noted a deficiency in pressing, suggesting that Madrid still has work to do to control matches more effectively.
Real Madrid will face Juventus in the Round of 16 after topping Group H.
