Biden considers appointing US civilian advisor for Gaza after the War
The President of the United States, Joe Biden, said he is considering appointing a U.S official to act as a civilian advisor to a predominantly Palestinian force following the end of the Gaza war.
According to Politico, the U.S official said that the advisor would be based in either Sinai or Jordan and would never set foot inside Gaza to avoid any appearance that the U.S. was in control of the territory.
The full press release reads:
“The Biden administration is considering appointing a U.S official to act as a civilian advisor to a predominantly Palestinian force following the end of the Gaza war.”
“According to several U.S officials, the advisor would be based in either Sinai or Jordan and would never set foot inside Gaza to avoid any appearance that the U.S. was in control of the territory.”
A senior official said, “We have talked about a number of different formulas for some kind of interim security forces in Gaza, and we have talked to a lot of partners about how the United States could support that with all of our capabilities from outside Gaza.”
