On Monday in western Iran’s Hamedan province, Malayer was struck by a 3.7 magnitude earthquake. This event added to the country’s sorrow following the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

Following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of President Raisi, a seismic event occurred just a day later, plunging Iran into deep mourning. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, announced a five-day national mourning period to honor the late president and his entourage.
In a heartfelt statement, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his condolences to the people of Iran and declared Mr. Mokhbar responsible for managing the executive branch in accordance with Article 131 of the Constitution.
He emphasized that within fifty days, arrangements must be made with the heads of the legislative and judicial branches for the election of a new president.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised President Raisi as a dedicated public servant who prioritized the well-being and satisfaction of the people above all else, despite facing ingratitude and criticism from detractors.
