The inaugural 2024 Summit in Russia is receiving its initial round of invitations from the BRICS alliance. Russian President Vladimir Putin extended a formal invitation to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain to participate in the summit in Kazan. Reports indicate that the leader from the Middle East promptly confirmed his attendance.

On Wednesday, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa landed in Moscow for discussions with President Putin and to finalize partnership agreements.

Bahrain’s growing curiosity in the BRICS initiative has sparked potential consideration for an invitation to join the alliance this autumn, bolstered by its strong relations with Russia.

The BRICS alliance is eager to grow and is planning to extend invitations to additional countries at the upcoming summit in order to determine the next members of the expanded group.

In early 2024, the alliance welcomed four new members after sending out five official invitations at last year’s summit.

BRICS Has Plenty Of Options To Invite To Upcoming Summit

There has been a significant increase in the number of countries looking to become part of BRICS since the last round of invitations.

Initial reports suggest that numerous nations around the world are keen on joining the group, with hopes of being invited to summits. Among these potential members are countries from Africa, Asia, South America, the Middle East, and even Europe.

Countries looking to become part of BRICS must also align with the bloc’s primary goal of de-dollarization. The focus on reducing reliance on the US Dollar is a key priority for BRICS, and significant progress has been made in shifting away from the greenback and encouraging other countries to follow suit.

By promoting alternative currencies such as local ones or a potential new BRICS currency, the bloc aims to establish itself as the leading global reserve in trade, surpassing the dominance of the US Dollar. The upcoming BRICS Summit is scheduled for October in Tatarstan, Russia.
