Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are set to embark on a visit to Nigeria in May, according to an announcement from the Defence Headquarters’ Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.

During their stay, the royal couple will engage with service members and participate in various cultural activities. Notably, Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games, an international multi-sporting event aimed at aiding the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service men and women, will be involved in discussions related to the event.

The Invictus Games, which witnessed the participation of approximately 500 individuals from 21 nations in its last edition, including Nigeria, garnered significant attention. Nigeria’s commendable performance, securing both gold and bronze medals in its debut appearance, underscores the nation’s potential in the competition.

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, who attended last year’s games in Germany, has expressed Nigeria’s willingness to host the prestigious event when the opportunity arises.
