A spokesperson for the German chancellor confirmed the German authorities would arrest Netanyahu if he enters the country amid a proposed arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes.

The stance has caused outrage in Israel, with many influential figures suggesting it marked another act of aggression by Germany on the Jewish people.

On this Israel’s ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor said: “The Chief Prosecutor equates a democratic government with Hamas, thereby demonizing and delegitimizing Israel and the Jewish people. This disgraceful political campaign could become a nail in the coffin for the West and its institutions.”
