The FBI Yet to Determine Motive in Trump Assassination Attempt
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States has disclosed that they have not yet determined the motive behind the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Kevin Rojek, the FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Pittsburgh field office, stated during a press conference that no specific threat was received prior to the shooting incident.
“Tonight we had what we’re calling an assassination attempt on our former president, Donald Trump. We do not currently have an identified motive,” Rojek announced.
The FBI has withheld the identity of the shooter, who was killed at the scene.
When asked whether law enforcement was aware of the shooter’s presence on the roof before he opened fire, Rojek responded, “that is our assessment at this time. It is surprising that the shooter was able to fire as many rounds as were discharged.”
He further stated that more details would be revealed as the investigation progresses.
The assassination attempt occurred during Trump’s election campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Witnesses reported hearing what seemed like two shots, after which Trump touched the right side of his face and fell to the ground.
Secret Service agents quickly shielded him from further danger. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, confirmed that the shooter had fired multiple rounds toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally venue.
