Trump Expresses Anger Over Christian Genocide in Nigeria, Hints at Next Move
United States President Donald Trump has expressed outrage over the reported killings of Christians in Nigeria, describing the situation as a “genocide” and criticizing the Nigerian government for failing to protect its citizens.
Speaking on a conservative radio program on Friday, as reported by Fox News, Trump claimed that thousands of Christians are being targeted in attacks by Islamic extremists across the West African nation.
The US President had previously designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over the alleged Christian genocide and warned that military action could follow if the government does not take stronger measures to stop the violence. During the radio interview, Trump hinted that he might also suspend US aid to Nigeria.
“Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping,” Trump said.
The remarks underscore heightened international concern over religiously motivated violence in Nigeria and the mounting pressure on its government to protect vulnerable communities.
