US Security: Bombs Found in Car, Residence of Trump’s Shooter
The gunman who attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, Thomas Mathew Crooks, had explosive materials discovered in both his car and residence, according to US security sources speaking to Fox News.
Sources confirmed to Fox News that Crooks’ car, which was parked near the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, contained bomb-making materials, including an improvised explosive device (IED). The exact quantity and type of explosives were not disclosed, but multiple devices were reportedly found.
Additionally, law enforcement found bomb-making materials at Crooks’ residence. The 20-year-old had fired shots at Trump during the campaign event, hitting him near the ears. The Secret Service responded swiftly, neutralizing Crooks at the scene.
Crooks was reported to have used an AR-style weapon during the assassination attempt.
