NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Sets Re-sit Exams for July 23–24
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which was conducted for Junior Secondary School students nationwide.
This was announced on Wednesday in a statement by Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO.
According to the statement, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects. While the council did not provide details on overall candidate performance, it confirmed that the examination took place between May 12 and May 23, 2025, and was concluded successfully.
The release of the results followed the conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s Headquarters in Minna. During the meeting, Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education and Chairperson of the Committee, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination and the result-processing procedures.
The meeting was attended by several secondary school principals from across the country, as well as senior NECO officials.
NECO also announced the schedule for the 2025 BECE Re-sit examination, which is intended for candidates who need to retake core subjects. The re-sit exams will take place on July 23 and 24, 2025, covering Mathematics and English Studies.
Students, parents, and school administrators are advised to take note of the re-sit dates and make the necessary preparations.
