Oyo TESCOM CBT Exam to Commence July 29 – Alamu
The Oyo State Post Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has scheduled a computer-based test (CBT) for applicants to teaching and non-teaching positions. The exam will run from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2, 2024.
TESCOM Chairman, Pastor Akinade Alamu, announced the schedule during a press conference at the TESCOM headquarters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He stated that 62,000 applicants who passed the initial screening process will participate in the CBT for various positions. Among them, 12,000 applied for non-teaching roles, while 50,000 applied for teaching positions.
Alamu explained that the recruitment drive was prompted by a directive from the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, who recently approved a new round of mass recruitment for teaching and non-teaching staff. This decision follows a previous recruitment of 5,000 teachers four years ago. Despite this effort, there are still vacancies in Oyo State secondary schools due to retirements, resignations, and other factors, including losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He praised Governor Makinde as a strong advocate for education, emphasizing the importance of addressing the staffing shortages in secondary schools. The recruitment process is being conducted in collaboration with various agencies, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Establishment, the Office of the Head of Service, and the Ministry of Finance.
Alamu assured that the recruitment process would be transparent and advised applicants to disregard rumors. He also informed that specific dates and times for the exam can be accessed through the commission’s portal.
The CBT will be held at the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre’s Computer Based Testing Centre in Ajibode, Ibadan. Applicants are required to print their exam schedules and application forms with passport photos from the job portal, as these will be needed for entry into the exam hall.
Alamu highlighted that the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre was chosen for its expertise in conducting computer-based tests. He urged applicants to adhere strictly to their assigned times and dates, as loitering around the center will not be allowed. Successful candidates from the CBT will proceed to an oral interview.
He also mentioned that arrangements have been made for applicants’ comfort, including tents, chairs, ambulance services, and security. Provisions have also been made for applicants with disabilities.
