UNN Suspends Lecturer Amidst Viral Video Allegations of Sexual Misconduct
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has taken decisive action by suspending Mr. Mfonobong David Udoudom, a lecturer in the General Studies division, following his alleged involvement in harassing a female student, as captured in a video.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, purportedly showed the lecturer engaging in inappropriate behavior, suggesting a quid pro quo arrangement with the student in exchange for grades.
In response, UNN, through its Acting Public Relations Officer, Okwun Omeaku, issued a statement on Tuesday, affirming the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct.
The statement announced Udoudom’s indefinite suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of a disciplinary panel set up to investigate the matter.
Highlighting UNN’s commitment to safeguarding its students from any form of abuse, exploitation, or harassment, the university emphasized its adherence to a comprehensive Sexual Harassment Policy.
The management assured that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against Udoudom if found guilty according to the university’s rules and regulations.
