In a recent legal development, a Magistrate Court situated in the Ikorodu area of Lagos has taken a significant step in the ongoing proceedings involving the late singer Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi.

The court has issued a directive for Wunmi to be served notice of an impending DNA application through substituted means. This decision, outlined in a statement signed by a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu, underscores the gravity of the situation.

Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, initiated the application through his legal representatives. The application seeks an order for the service of court documents on Wunmi by posting them to her last-known address.

According to the statement, the legal team presented compelling arguments, highlighting previous unsuccessful attempts by the sheriff to serve Wunmi with the court processes. As a result, the court deemed it necessary to resort to substituted service to ensure Wunmi’s awareness of the pending suit.

The decision by the Chief Magistrate to authorize substituted service marks a crucial development in the legal proceedings. By allowing the court documents to be served on Wunmi’s last known address, the court aims to ensure that she is duly informed and provided with the opportunity to participate in the ongoing legal process. This step underscores the commitment of the judicial system to uphold due process and ensure that all parties involved are afforded their rights.

As the proceedings continue, stakeholders closely monitor the unfolding events, recognizing the importance of transparency and fairness in resolving legal matters. The decision to employ substituted service reflects the court’s dedication to facilitating a just and equitable resolution to the case.
